In the midst of a pandemic, many aspiring entrepreneurs decided it was finally time to embrace their passions and take “the leap”.
New York native and Philly resident Brittany Johnson was one in the number who took that opportunity to create a safe space and experiences for women. She proudly carries the titles of puppy mom, poet, educator, and foodie, and has rightfully earned the latest title of entrepreneur with her latest venture, SoLoveSoul.
In honor of Women’s History Month, BlkWomenHustle® highlighted Johnson’s story and the beautiful beginnings of her life-changing community.
The Beginnings of SoLoveSoul
With a vision in mind, Johnson set her fears aside to make a move that would soon change her life. “The pandemic gave me the space to pause and reflect on my true calling and the life I wanted to live. I was exhausted and burnt out in my current job and knew there was more that I was destined to be in this world. SoLoveSoul was always in my mind, but I knew it was time to step into faith and take action.”
“My journey started with getting my LLC, then magic started happening. I created my IG platform and let people know that SoLoveSoul had arrived! Since then, SoLoveSoul has blossomed, and I couldn’t be more proud of myself,” she stated.
When asked about the experiences within her community, Johnson stated, “SoLoveSoul reminds women that we are not alone in our healing journey— that we are free to live as our best and authentic selves. Our programs leave Queens feeling empowered and supported to manifest the lives they desire.”
Johnson’s initiatives have fulfilled her love for connecting with talented, passionate black and brown women building lasting relationships across the country. The SOULpreneur Virtual Assisting branch of SoLoveSoul has also contributed to her learning from and assisting dynamic entrepreneurs. “I love seeing Black Women reaching their goals and becoming forces to reckon with in the business world!” she expressed.
The journey of entrepreneurship can get lonely at times, but the support systems have helped Johnson carry the weight of it all. “I am overwhelmed by the love and support I have received throughout my SOULpreneur journey. From close friends and family to women I never met before, everyone has given SoLoveSoul the opportunity to grow and develop. It has given me the confidence to continue in my purpose, to take risks, to step through fear. I am forever grateful that there is such a supportive community who want Black Women to succeed!”
SoLoveSoul continues cultivating safe and joyful spaces for women to heal, continue loving themselves, while forming profound connections with other queens. In reflection of her journey, Johnson recited a statement from her poetry collection “Loving Eve” stating, “I have been healing for this moment, arriving into this power, call it divine time. SoLoveSoul, a Queendom, may it stand the test of time. Building a legacy of Queens, known and to be discovered.”
