Meet EMOIR EMerging Artist Destiny Stone

Destiny Stone is the new-age soul singer with a sound reminiscent of the early 2000’s neo-soul music era, combined with the soul of the 70s. And this self-proclaimed “musician you’ve been looking for” is here to make waves in mainstream media.

Stone’s catalog invokes the emotions to make listeners feel the energy behind every lyric, fulfilling her desire to sonically touch souls. Making peace with the music industry’s lack of airtime for her genre, the singer’s focus remains on fueling the spirit with a soft and sultry sound. The 10-year vocal veteran credits leaders of liberation in song as influences.

“India Arie’s music has inspired me the most. I believe that as a young girl, I gravitated to her because I saw someone who looked like me— a dark-skinned, Black Woman with natural hair. I also admired the content of her lyrics, because it encouraged me to stay in my lane and not feel bad for not looking like the average girl in the video.”

“Nina Simone has also become an inspiration for me. She sacrificed her rising jazz career to write and perform songs that reflected the tension during the Civil Rights Movement. She made a decision to stand with her people, even though she knew the negative effect it would have on her commercial success,” explained Stone.

Her latest single “They Got Nothing on You” carries an optimistic message to stay true to who you are, while embracing every unique trait of your being. “Many times, we’re quick to point out flaws, but I wanted us to have a few minutes to look in the mirror and tell ourselves that no one else can do it how we do. I know some days we don’t feel too hot, or like we haven’t accomplished enough. But for at least 2 minutes and 48 seconds, while listening to the song, I want us to feel like we’re on top of the world,” she encouraged.
