Social media changes nearly every month, and your inbound marketing tactics have to change as each social media site changes its algorithm and goals.
As an entrepreneur or marketing professional, I’m sure you’ve noticed how difficult it is becoming to market your business or brand on Facebook organically. Facebook wants its’ users (especially business profiles) to utilize their Ad Manager.
Of course, this is a smart move for the platform but for us marketing gurus this poses a hurdle. Facebook groups are the best way to get through the algorithm and to get your business profile in front of the right eyes.
Let’s get right into the various ways you can use Facebook Groups to expand your business.
Engaging in Facebook Groups
Facebook groups have this awesome way of becoming networking platforms for virtually any industry.
You can utilize these groups for both you and your client but you should consider the following rules:
- Only provide value
- Look over the group rules in each new group you join
- Avoid being spammy with comments
- Focus on being helpful first
- Join Facebook groups relevant to your industry
By always coming across as helpful, answering questions in groups consistently, and providing optimal value you will get more eyes on your business without coming across as spammy.
Some groups will not allow you to share links to your website so be on the lookout for these rules. The goal is to network and get the word out about who you are and what you do (or your client)
Creating Your Own Facebook Group
Creating your own Facebook Group is an awesome way of building know, like and trust with your audience. Facebook’s algorithm limits the reach on business accounts and fan pages so starting a group will ensure your content is seen by those who need your brand the most.
Now, you’re probably thinking, ‘How can I get people to join my group?’
The key to getting more people to join your group is to use a lead magnet or freebie. Keep your customers at the forefront when creating your group. What does your ideal customer want to see from you?
Maybe your ideal customers need to know that you have enough industry expertise so you provide them with exclusive tips or free downloadables that are not available anywhere else but in your group.
If you already have an established Facebook business account you can link your new group to your profile and run ads to get members as well.
You Have a Group, Now What Should You Post?
Coming up with a content calendar in advance is key to running a successful Facebook group. With your target audience in mind, come up with a list of ideas and a posting schedule.
Remember to provide QUALITY, over quantity. High-quality posts with open-ended questions will increase group engagement and position you as an industry authority.
Consider the following topics for inspiration:
- Life/motivational quotes
- Day in the life posts/video
- Preplanned FB live video
- Industry tips
- FAQs in your industry
