In 2017, Aisha Taylor Issah made a $500 investment that would change the way Black Women experience business expos forever. In that moment, she created the Sistahs in Business Expo, becoming the only multi-city, small business expo celebrating and supporting entrepreneurial women of color.
The Sistahpreneur has since grown its community to 35,000+ around the world, expanding with its inclusion of business education, resources, and funding through pitch competitions.
Issah’s personal journey of entrepreneurship prior to the expo set the tone for her to explore the opportunity. While attending other expos, she noticed the retention of clients and consistency of lasting connections made with fellow Black Women entrepreneurs. The idea of curating her own expo would become the solution to helping the ever-growing demographic.
In addition to running a career development company, being in ministry, and working full time, taking on a task of this nature wasn’t on the entrepreneur’s radar. Now, here we are four years later with her name in the history books.
