Ah, the good life. You’ve got your own business, brand, and freedom. Your friends and family are proud that you decided to stick it through and follow your dreams. No 9-5 for you, but something is amiss.
You’re totally tired of putting in overtime to get your business off the ground. You’re swamped with marketing tasks and figuring out business strategies. Some days you wonder if it’s really worth it.
Here are 5 ways to increase productivity as an entrepreneur on those low energy days:
Make Short-Term Goals
Short terms goals will help you keep the eye on the prize. What do you want to accomplish in the next 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days? What will you focus on this week in your business?
To increase productivity as an entrepreneur, you need to have traceable goals. Once you obtain those goals, reward yourself! Take a night off and go out to dinner. Grab that super cute purse you’ve been wanting. Get your nails and hair done.
Write all of your goals down for the next six months. Keep track of everything you’ve accomplished so you can look back with satisfaction.
Give Back
Surely, you’ve stepped out on a limb to pursue your passion. Use your passion to give back to others in need. Who needs your products or services and can’t afford them? Who needs a free consultation or help to get back on their feet?
Seeing how your brand can help someone else in need without bringing money into the equation, will give you a new love for what you do. Your brand and services are needed.
Sometimes the only thing you need to remember this is a freebie for someone in need. What’s your favorite charity? Plan a day or week to make your proceeds go to them. Their gratitude will inspire you.
Set Up Schedules in Advance
You can never be too prepared, especially in the business world. Take time to set up your plans and schedule a year or so in advance. Where do you plan on taking your business in 1 year?
Use content marketing schedules and hire an assistant to help you keep track of everything. The moment you fall behind, you’re inviting unnecessary work overload into the equation.
If you know you need to network at an event this year, schedule it now. While you’re at it decide which events you want to go to next year and the year after. What you plan now affects everything in your future. Get a head start and you’ll feel more organized and refreshed.
Find Students to do Internships
There are literally hundreds of business students just waiting to have an opportunity to build their resume or portfolio. Help them while they help you. Post an ad for an internship for students in marketing, business, or your industry.
To increase productivity as an entrepreneur, go to a local college and post flyers. Remember they don’t have to live in your area. You can post ads online and have students work remotely to help you with administrative tasks like phone calls, marketing, event coordination, and accounting.
This is a way to outsource some of your tasks to someone else, so that you can take on new projects to help push your business even further.
Take a Break!
Wait, what? How is that going to increase productivity?
When you take a full day off, to nap, spend time with family, and care for yourself, you come back more motivated than ever. You’ll be ready to totally crush all your goals.
While resting you get to enjoy the simple pleasures of life while reflecting on why you did this in the first place. The energy you need to get everything done will be replenished. Honestly, after taking a full day off, no calls, no texts, you will miss working on your dream and be completely ready to take charge.
Remember, you’ve got this and all the hard work is going to pay off. It probably already has. Use the best of your time and plan ahead. When things get overwhelming, take a step back to consider what’s going on. Entrepreneurship allows you to be empowered and in charge. Take this motivation with you every day and shoot for the stars no matter what.
