MI Creations Diaper Co. Develops Eco-Friendly Products for Infants

Did you know that infants use around 2,000 disposable diapers in their first year? With the rising costs of baby necessities, parents can spend well into the thousands on diapers in their child’s first few years. But a new, conscious baby brand is changing the outlook for families and their bundles of joy.

In support of a more sustainable approach, MI Creations Diaper Co. was launched by mother and serial entrepreneur Maya Brown to save the environment and protect children’s health. The eco-friendly cloth diaper brand provides parents with a clean solution for infant undergarments.

Creating an Eco-Friendly Diaper Brand

The Brooklyn native’s commitment to creating sustainable solutions is rooted in her belief that small choices made while raising children will significantly influence the world they will inherit. “My journey started with a desire to save money and make a positive impact on the environment and the future for my children. As a very busy mother with kids from 9 months to 10 years old, I knew that in order to do it, I needed to start with small changes. No one can change the entire world overnight, but if I could make this one shift, then I could save about $800 a year and reduce my littles diaper contribution to landfills,” she explained.

The green company’s diapers feature 3D gussets to prevent unruly blowouts and bamboo cotton inserts for increased absorbency. Each garment is designed with beautiful handmade prints, inspired by the founder’s oldest daughter. Beaming with pride, Brown shared, “Representation matters, and I want to create a product that is inclusive and culturally relevant for Black and Brown families.” With the brand’s visuals in mind, she looks to collaborate with Black and Brown artists for future releases.

Effects of Disposable Diapers

Brown’s concerns for infant health played a notable role in her decision to go green. With studies linking disposable diapers to asthma, allergies, and cancer, she felt obligated to make the health and well-being of children a priority. Through research, she also discovered that diapers are one of the top three contributors for landfills.

“When it comes to childcare products, there are a lot of concerns about the harmful toxins and chemicals that can be found in many of them. We strive to empower families to make informed choices that will not only benefit their own children, but contribute to the well-being of future generations”

With a portion of its proceeds gifted to nonprofit organizations, the company supports the education of Black and Brown families on sustainable solutions. “I believe that my products are not just cloth diapers, but a tool for creating a better world for our children. I’m deeply committed to creating a product that is both beautiful and functional, while also making a positive impact on the world around us,” shared Brown.
